Our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) team supports the equitable implementation of an array of social emotional and academic development initiatives across our district. We define and organize our SEL interventions using the five SEL competencies developed by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), who has partnered with OSPI to build state SEL standards and benchmarks. These initiatives are provided at all three tiers of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports MTSS framework within schools, and may include: positive behavior supports, functional assessment, RULER, restorative practices, and trauma-informed/healing-centered engagement. Our four approaches to SEL implementation include: SEL lessons, academic integration, positive and welcoming school culture, and strategic planning/measurement.
