We take data privacy seriously in Highline. As described on our Digital Tools page, the Digital Tool Review Committee completes a rigorous vetting process to ensure that any digital tool used with students is safe and secure. So what does the committee consider when vetting tools?
If you are using a digital tool with students that is not listed on Highline’s digital tools list, STOP using the tool and submit a request for the tool to be reviewed.
If you are using a tool that is listed as “Denied,” STOP using the tool immediately. It is likely the vendor does not follow the data privacy requirements outlined by the Digital Tool Review Committee. YOU ARE PUTTING YOURSELF, THE DISTRICT AND YOUR STUDENTS AT RISK.
Pay attention to details about tools marked “conditional.” There are usually special instructions for secure account set up found in "Details."
We encourage the use of district devices due to the security that is assigned to that device. Additionally, devices on our network are secure.
Please be patient. Reviewing tools is complex, and it takes time to communicate with vendors.
