Providing a Guaranteed & Viable Curriculum

To ensure that all Highline students are able to experience academic and social-emotional success across every classroom, and to ensure that teachers are provided the resources and supports they need, we are working to provide equitable access through a collaboratively developed guaranteed and viable curriculum (GVC). This means that all students, regardless of school or teacher assignment, will have opportunities to engage in rigorous learning opportunities that are:

The GVC is developed at the system level; each school implements and further refines the GVC based on student needs and program further collaborative teacher team plan at the unit level to meet the needs of their students. Together the system, schools and collaborative teams work to refine and improve the GVC.

Please note: In order to provide extensions and interventions, schools may elect use of supplemental materials; however, these materials do not replace adopted materials for core instruction. Many supplemental materials are digital tools. Please see additional information for specific information regarding use allowable use of digital tools.
