For many students, life circumstances make it hard to feel successful in life and going to school becomes difficult or a nonpriority. Veronique is the reason that a lot of these students are still engaged in school. Veronique consistently goes the extra mile to support students on her caseload, calling families, doing home visits, connecting to social workers and support agencies, and reaching out to any support she can find to help students get back into school. Due to the nature of her work, Veronique often bears witness to some of the most difficult and heartbreaking struggles that face students in our district. She is a constant model of what it means to use trauma-informed practices, treating every student with care and compassion while empowering them to make positive choices in their lives.
