As many of you know it is Education Support Professionals Week, which provides us the opportunity to publicly thank our valuable Highline team members who often work behind the scenes to ensure that students and staff have what they need to succeed. This includes, but is not limited to grounds and maintenance crews, nutrition services staff, paraprofessionals, transportation and facilities staff. Without the hard work and dedication of our colleagues in these departments, we simply could not do the work we do.
Over the course of this school year, I have had the honor to present Ducky Awards to some of these wonderful people, including:
- Jessica Emerson who works in the front office at McMicken Heights;
- Joseph Nelson, a paraeducator at Cedarhurst;
- Jayne Smith, front office staff at Seahurst; and
- Jim Hornus, paraeducator at Marvista.
I encourage you to take time this week to show your appreciation for our classified colleagues, and take the time to send me a Ducky Award nomination for an individual who goes above and beyond to deliver on our Highline Promise to know every student by name, strength and need.
