The 2019-20 school year brought circumstances none of us expected or imagined. The pivot to distance learning has been tough on students, families and staff. We are watching the world explode as we collectively face systemic racism. Just when we intensely feel the need to be together to process the events swirling around us, we are forced to keep our distance.
Yet there have been moments of joy: the quiet student who suddenly blossoms in distance learning; teachers parading through their school neighborhoods on weekends and holidays; words of heartfelt appreciation from families to our staff distributing meals week after week.
And best of all, the exuberant graduations celebrating our graduating seniors. If you didn't have the opportunity to attend a commencement this spring, you owe it to yourself to check out the photos and videos of the Class of 2020 graduations.
It's been a year! Take a deep breath, reflect a moment, and pat yourself on the back. We made it.
Next year promises another set of new challenges. We'll keep you posted throughout the summer. But for now, rest and relax. You've earned it.
