Please read this all staff message from Superintendent Susan Enfield about fall 2020 planning.
Hello everyone. I hope that you are getting outdoors, enjoying time with the people you love and staying healthy.
As we get closer to fall, I know we are all feeling anxious about what school will be like come September. With the public health situation constantly evolving, I imagine that you feel like you have more questions than answers. Some days, I feel like that, too.
I want to thank those who participated in our staff webinars yesterday. For those who missed them, we will post a video on the Staff Hub, along with FAQs that address as many of your questions as possible.
I know that each of you faces a unique set of circumstances in living through this pandemic. I care about each of you, and if I could, I would make a plan for fall that addresses each of your individual situations. You and I know that is not possible. As the leader of an organization with many diverse and competing interests, the very best I can do is find a way forward that has the least negative impacts on the most--and most vulnerable--people.
I am listening, and those serving on our fall planning workgroups--people who represent all of you--are listening, too. You may not have the answers to all of your questions at this moment, but know that we are working on it—working extremely hard, with a deep sense of responsibility to you and to the children and families we serve.
Yesterday, Public Health Seattle & King County released data showing that if Coronavirus community transmission rates do not decrease, it will not be safe to have school in person. I want to assure you that we will NOT open our buildings unless and until Public Health tells us it is safe to do so.
I acknowledge how hard it is to live in uncertainty. No one feels that more profoundly than I do right now. Please continue to have faith that we have the health, safety and well-being of our staff and students as our highest priority.
