Coronavirus Update: Staff Volunteer Opportunities

Many of you have asked how you can support our students and families during the school closure.

Donations Welcome

The Highline Schools Foundation is accepting monetary donations to purchase supplies for the childcare centers we are opening during the school closure. Make a donation online.

Monetary donations will allow us to purchase the right type and number of supplies, and eliminate the need for personnel to collect and sort donated supplies.

Essential Services Volunteers

Governor Inslee has charged schools with a critical role in getting our communities through the Coronavirus crisis. We provide essential services that support not only the daily nutritional needs of students but also the ability of our healthcare system to fight this virus as we care for the children of the people on the front lines.

In order to deliver these services, we are asking current staff and agency personnel to volunteer to distribute meals and learning materials and to assist with childcare. Staff who are over the age of 60 or have underlying health issues are not eligible to volunteer. Please consider thoughtfully what you, based on your own personal circumstances, can do to help if you are eligible to do so.

Emergency Childcare

To enable our healthcare workers and first responders to continue to work during this crisis, safe and reliable childcare is a necessity. Roles include: childcare worker (9:1 ratio, max.), office support

Emergency Meal Service

To feed our students who depend on school meals, meal service is an essential community service. Roles include: food preparation (limited), food distribution

Instructional Materials Distribution

To reduce learning loss during the closure, learning practice materials being distributed at meal sites. Roles include: material preparation/packaging, material distribution

Childcare Health Screening

To keep our community, students and staff as safe as possible, every child and adult is screened for fever and symptoms before entering childcare sites. Roles include: screening assistant.
