Coronavirus Update: Distance Learning Plan & Support

Distance Learning Plan

The Teaching, Learning & Leadership Team has been working hard to keep up with changing circumstances and shifting guidance from our state leaders about the role schools should play during the current public health crisis.

In partnership with HEA, we developed online and hard copy resources to reduce learning loss and give students an opportunity to practice their skills during the closure.

With OSPI’s pivot from “no remote learning” to “education must continue,” we have built a plan to continue instruction to the extent possible. Discussions with HEA on the contents of this plan will continue, based on any additional guidance from OSPI. We will be sharing this plan with families this week.

Please see more details on the Staff Hub.

Support for Distance Learning Plan: Learning Platform Training

Thank you for your ongoing support and feedback regarding digital tools to support student learning. More than 750 teachers responded to this survey, with feedback on comfort level with digital tools and collaboration with staff. We identified the top tools being used to support student learning and staff training needs.

Based on this feedback, Teaching, Learning & Leadership has developed a Canvas Course that provides training on platforms and videoing lessons.  You can enroll using this one-time enrollment code: https://hsd.instructure.com/enroll/F9Y47Y

Once you register, it will remain on your Canvas dashboard.

As a reminder, a webinar on using approved communication tools was shared last week. Please review the webinar here. Ongoing digital tool support is available from the Personalized Learning Team.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
