Coronavirus Reporting

If you or a staff member you know of has tested positive for COVID-19 and has NOT had contact with staff or students since schools closed on March 13, you do not need to report this to the school district. Since the 14-day isolation period is over, there is no need to inform staff or students at this point. Because the virus is now community-acquired, everyone should practice social distancing regardless of whether they believe they have been exposed or not.

If you are reporting to work at a school district site (i.e., staffing childcare, meal distribution or other essential duties), please follow these steps:

  1. If you show any symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, coughing, shortness of breath), call your supervisor and do not report to work.
  2. If you test positive for COVID-19, report this to your supervisor, Sara Baker in Human Resources, and Public Health Seattle & King County by calling 206-477-3977.

Good Hygiene

Please remind your student of the importance of following good hygiene practices that prevent the spread of communicable diseases:

  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a sleeve or a tissue.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, or use alcohol hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick. See our guidelines for when to stay home.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
