Visitors are allowed only as necessary. Signage outside the building should direct visitors to call the office before entering the building.

Upon arrival, visitors should be prompted via signage to wear a mask/face covering, to maintain six-foot distance, and to sanitize hands.  Signage should direct visitors to the person behind the plexiglass.

Visitors will be encouraged to make an appointment, and hours of operation will be limited. Families without scheduled appointments should not be turned away without the opportunity to have their needs met or to schedule a time to return to do so.

Visitors from partner agencies must prearrange their visits. Visitors with school business will be allowed in the office and hallways outside of the office only.

It is recommended that reader boards communicate hours and encourage appointments for registration or other business.

Families/visitors are to use designated entrances/exits per Path Maps established by schools.

Restrooms nearest to the office are available for public use. Accessible/non accessible spaces should be clearly identified.

Face Coverings for Visitors

According to King County Public Health and by direction of the Governor, all students, staff, volunteers, and guests must wear cloth face coverings in pre-K-12 settings.

Expectations should be communicated prior to entering the building. Disposable masks will be available for visitors who need one.  If a visitor refuses to wear a mask, the principal of staff can recommend that the visitor conduct their business by phone as an alternative to in-person.

As with any situation that results in an escalation/confrontation that feels unsafe and requires support, HPS Security should be notified.
